ABSA Biosafety Discussion List
This is THE list for Biosafety and Biosecurity professionals and those interested in the field of biosafety and biosecurity.
The purpose of the list is to share and discuss biosafety and biosecurity issues and questions. Any questions related to biosecurity and biosafety are welcome. Please be aware that the participants on the list will range from newer biosafety/biosecurity professionals to expert biosafety/biosecurity professionals. ABSA International expects that everyone and all questions will be treated with respect, if not ABSA International reserves the right to remove disrespectful individuals from the listserv. ABSA International wants the listserv to be helpful, civil, and welcoming to all that are interested in biosafety and biosecurity.
Some do’s and do not’s.
- Do ask questions, respond to questions, and post any relevant biosafety and biosecurity information.
- Do NOT flame (flaming may result in being unsubscribed by the list owner without warning), go off the general topic of biosafety/biosecurity.
- Remember when you reply to a posting it goes to the WHOLE list. If you want to send a private response – CHANGE the email ADDRESS.

Please be aware that the listmaster is NOT the listowner, so you will need to give detailed information of the problem, and the name of the list. Listmaster is responsible for the correct operation of the list commands, etc., not for list content, list offers, etc.
ABSA Affiliate Leaders Listserv
The affiliate leader’s listserv is for ABSA affiliate leaders (those on official ABSA affiliate Councils/Boards) to connect with other ABSA affiliate leaders. Please forward your name and name of the ABSA affiliate association, to Michelle Gehrke at Michelle@absaoffice.org with “Affiliate listserv” in the subject line.
Public Health Listserv
The public health listserv is open to professionals in the public health sector, including non-ABSA members, those who have an interest in biosafety or biosecurity, and professionals in a non-public health biorisk management role. To join the listserv please email Michelle Gehrke Michelle@absaoffice.org with your contact information and “PH listserv” in the subject line.
Next Gen/Young Biosafety Professionals
The nextgen listserv is targeted for newer biosafety professionals/new (less than 5-years in the field). The listserv will focus on getting started in biosafety and preparing for ABSA biosafety credentials. To be added to the listerve, (must be an ABSA member) please email Michelle Gehrke Michelle@absaoffice.org with “NextGen listserv” in the subject line.

ABSA listserv advertising policy
Advertising on the ABSA International Biosafety listserv is approved only for official ABSA International and its Affiliates’ business, which includes training, meeting announcements, and items determined by the ABSA Council to be in the best interest of the organization. Additionally, approval is granted to training and, meeting announcements, or other activities that are offered free of charge to the biosafety and biosecurity community.
Advertising on the ABSA International Biosafety listserv is reserved for ABSA International, its official Affiliates, and programs that are offering free services or training. If you wish to advertise with ABSA International, please refer to the Biosafety Buyer’s Guide (https://absa.org/bbg/) or the ABSA International Calendar (https://absa.org/events/). Continued misuse will result in removal of your access to the ABSA listserv.
