Human Salmonella Typhimurium Infections Linked to Exposure to Clinical and Teaching Microbiology Laboratories

In a CDC Investigation notice posted on July 19, 2017, it was reported that there was another multi-state outbreak linked to clinical, commercial and college microbiology teaching laboratories. Twenty-four people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Typhimurium were reported from 16 states. Six ill people were hospitalized. No deaths were reported.

Zika virus; What is the Risk Assesment

Zika virus is a new and emerging pathogen that is impacting many people across the Americas. With the increased drive for an effective treatment, Zika virus research will be increasing in many laboratories.
