The hybrid event will be held on the campus of the Harvard Medical School for onsite attendees and virtually for those who cannot attend in person. Two professional development courses, Lab Design Issues, and the IBC/IRB Review of Gene Therapy Clinical Trials will be offered on April 3rd. Our April 4th Symposium will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Syra Madad, a member of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB) and an internationally recognized public health leader and epidemiologist in infectious disease and special pathogen preparedness and response. We will also feature three interactive panels on Gain of Function research, Gene Therapy Clinical Trials, and containment of Risk Group 3 pathogens in lab, animal, and arthropod facilities. Presentations on procedures and equipment that generate contamination in clinical, diagnostic and research laboratories and laboratory-associated infections will be provided.

HYS 2023 is targeted to Biosafety Officers and related Environmental Health and Safety Professionals, laboratory researchers and staff from diagnostic and clinical laboratories; Institutional Biosafety Committee members; Institutional Review Board members; Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee members and Animal Care and Use professionals, and Infection Preventionists.

As this event is affiliated with the New England Biological Safety Association (NEBSA), it qualifies for CEU points automatically through the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) International.
