Techniques and Tools for Conducting Relevant Literature Reviews will cover how to efficiently conduct high-impact research that can inform biosafety practices. The course will discuss the general purpose of a literature review, how to best organize the resources you collect, and techniques for synthesizing the literature. It will cover basic information on the kinds of scholarly texts available, where to search for information, citation best practices, and plagiarism avoidance. With many tools in the marketplace, this webinar will also provide an overview of reliable reference management tools to help curate resources and provide basic guidance on knowledge management tools to promote information retention over time.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Synthesize the literature
  • Assess the tools needed for a literature review

This webinar will be two 2-hour sessions on Wednesday, August 23, and August 30, 2023, at 1:00 pm CDT. For the webinar, you should plan on logging in 15 minutes ahead of the start of each session. You are required to attend the webinar sessions, complete the pre-course and post-course assessments, any course work, and the course evaluation in order to receive the completion certificate through the ABSA International Training Site. The link in the invitation will be unique to the user and cannot be shared.

ABSA Members $225 USD
Nonmembers $360 USD

To obtain the ABSA member rate, the participant will need to be an ABSA member in the year in which the training is offered. Course fees include: course handouts, access to the ABSA International training site, and 4 hours of interactive instruction from a well-respected subject matter expert.

Confirmed, paid participants will be sent detailed information regarding the course within the week of the course. Substitutions allowed with notice by 7/26/2023. There is a 15% processing fee for cancellations by 7/26/2023. Cancellations between 7/26/2023 and 8/2/2023 will be refunded at 50% of the course fee. No refunds after 8/2/2023.
