02. Updating Your Preparedness Toolbox for Future Outbreaks or Pandemics

What’s coming next in the world? Do you have the tools you need to be prepared for the next outbreak or pandemic? Updating Your Preparedness Toolbox for Future Outbreaks or Pandemics is a roundtable discussion that will feature several biosafety and public health professionals. The panelists, who work across government, academia, industry, and public health, will discuss aspects of their institution’s response to emerging and reemerging pathogens and infectious disease emergencies. Lessons learned from previous emergencies will be shared. Topics will include risk assessment, communication challenges and solutions, program and policy changes, and occupational health.

Current diseases to be discussed:

  • Ebola
  • Monkeypox
  • Poliovirus
  • African Swine Fever (ASF)
  • Avian Influenza
  • Triple Threat (RSV, Influenza, COVID)

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this roundtable, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the challenges faced by biosafety and public health professionals during an infectious disease emergency
  • Describe the responses to challenges that may be applicable to their own institution
  • Restate the steps to take when adjusting an institution’s procedures or policies

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • All biosafety and public health professionals in government, industry, academic and other institutions/organizations
  • Anyone involved in decision making during pandemic or other emergency situations

This course has been approved for 0.25 CM points toward RBP/CBSP recertification. ABSA International is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program. This roundtable discussion will be one, 2-hour session on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm (CST). For the session, you should plan on logging in at 1:45 pm (CST). You are required to attend the roundtable session, complete and/or access all the modules in the course on the training site to receive the completion certificate through the ABSA International Training Site. The link in the invitation will be unique to the user and cannot be shared.

Nonmembers $185 USD

To obtain the ABSA member rate, the participant will need to be an ABSA member in the year in which the training is offered. Course fees include: course handouts, access to the ABSA International training site, and 1.5 hours of interactive instruction from a well-respected subject matter expert.

Group Discount:
10% off each registration for 3-4 participants from the same organization
20% off each registration for 5-9 participants from the same organization
30% off each registration for 10 or more participants from the same organization

To obtain the ABSA member rate, the participant will need to be an ABSA member in the year in which the training is offered. Confirmed, paid participants will be sent detailed information regarding the course within a few days prior to the course. Substitutions allowed with notice by 12/28/2022. There is a 15% processing fee for cancellations prior to 12/28/2022. Cancellations between 12/28/2022 and 1/5/2023 will be refunded at 50% of the course fee. No refunds after 1/5/2023.
